Home security provider Scout Security Limited (ASX: SCT) has integrated with the Amazon Alexa Guard offering and is making the integration available immediately to customers. Amazon is a shareholder of Scout and long-time partner.

Alexa Guard uses Amazon Echo devices to detect the sounds of glass breaking, smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide alarms. Alexa Guard can be configured to send Smart Alerts when these sounds are detected and integrated with Scout Alarm for police dispatch when an alert is received.

Similar to an alarm trigger from Scout Alarm sensors, the Alexa Guard notification will send a signal to Scout’s monitoring centre for dispatch.

To enable this functionality, consumers will need a Scout Alarm system with the Always On+ plan, which Scout retails for US$19.99 per month.

Scout CEO, Dan Roberts, said Alexa Guard can be activated on supported Amazon devices, including the Echo, Echo Show, Echo Spot, Echo Dot, Echo Plus, or Echo Input.

We believe that the Scout platform has some of the best-in-class integrations for smart home security and the integration with Alexa Guard further enhances our capabilities,” Mr Roberts said.

“The more deeply the devices integrate across the smart home ecosystem, the better the user experience becomes and the more utility users gain, in our view. Amazon Guard is a unique capability that can offer another layer of security to our users and we’re excited to make it available to our customer base.”

Mr Roberts said the integration between Scout and Alexa Guard is available immediately to users through the Amazon Alexa App and Scout Alarm App.
