AnteoTech Ltd (ASX: ADO) has executed a Project Participation Agreement with the Future Battery Industries CRC (FBICRC), for collaboration in “The Super Anode Project”.
The Super Anode Project is a four-year project with the aim of developing the materials, processes and cell-level technology to kick-start Australia’s battery industry and complement the FBICRCs cathode precursor refinement and material development project.
The Super Anode Project will deliver on two equally funded project areas.
AnteoTech is one of nine research participants in the Super Anode Project and was selected as the exclusive contributor of silicon composite materials for refinement within the Super Anode Project. AnteoTech will contribute through in-kind contributions and a projected cash contribution of $500,000 over the four years.
Head of Energy, Manuel Wieser, said participation in the Super Anode Project will provide AnteoTech with the opportunity to accelerate and refine the development of its silicon composite material within the work programme by leveraging access to additional highly skilled researchers with sophisticated test and processing equipment at leading Australian Universities and Institutes.
The Project work programme will cover the structural refinement of AnteoTech’s silicon composite material to achieve superior performance as well as roll- to-roll processing trials and the fabrication of large format pouch cells using high energy cathode materials that are also being developed within one of the FBI-CRC’s programmes.
Participation in the Super Anode Project provides our Energy team with a great opportunity to collaborate with key Australian industry partners in the development of silicon active material. We have already demonstrated solid results with our in-house testing of half cell batteries,” Mr Wieser said.
“This Project will take our work to the next level providing scale-up, demonstration and validation opportunities for the silicon composite development work being undertaken by AnteoTech while creating a marketable product and expanding AnteoTech’s IP portfolio.”
Under the Project Agreement, AnteoTech will retain all rights to its IP provided to the Project in relation to the provision of the silicon composite material. As a project participant, AnteoTech is entitled to a share of the Project IP, based on a percentage of contribution to the project.
