ASX listed Arrowhead Resources is moving into the eSports market through the acquisition of Global eSports Platform “Gaming Battle Ground” (“GBG”).
eSports is a global phenomenon which is gaining significant momentum with a market size of US$493 million in 2016 and is forecast to grow by 41.3% to US$696 million in 2017.
GBG is an Australian proprietary limited company which owns and operates Gaming Battle Ground, an online gaming platform. GBG is feature rich providing exciting opportunities to millions of grassroots eSports gamers to be rewarded for skill based competitive gaming on PC, console and mobile.
GBG began its operations in June 2014. The founding developers had a vision is to establish a global competitive online gaming platform, offering players world-wide the opportunity to test their skill at an international level and to be rewarded.
After extensive research on the global online gaming offerings, and identifying users’ characteristics and preferences, GBG embarked on developing a revolutionary platform capable of being deployed across a global audience. The founding developers of GBG, and eSports technology expert, Gregory Stevens, then partnered together to launch the platform in South Africa.
Leveraging is technology; GBG will connect the corporate advertisers to the growing gen-X and gen-Y eSports gamers through a consolidated eSports offering engaging the online community and generating eSports content.
Arrowhead is looking to raise AUD$5 million capital to launch its eSports offering and expand globally, with the focus on emerging markets. Sydney based Hunter Capital has been appointed as lead manager and will fully underwrite the capital raise.
