Aurora Labs’ (ASX:A3D) plan to grow its defence market opportunities has received a boost with the appointment of highly credentialed senior advisor Andrew Garth as a non-executive director.
Currently serving as Managing Director of leading Defence Consultancy DIAS, and with formal qualifications as an aeronautical engineer, Mr Garth’s previous roles have included serving as a Senior Program Manager at GKN Aerospace, where he was instrumental in the Joint Strike Fighter and Airbus projects, managing extensive engineering teams and securing substantial project revenues.
In Government, he served as Member Victorian Government Defence Council and General Manager of Centre for Defence Industry Capability and Director of Defence Industry Innovation Centre.
His leadership roles in both industry and government have provided him with unique insights into the Defence and advanced manufacturing sectors, making him a well-known and respected industry figure.
With a career spanning over two decades, Mr Garth has amassed extensive expertise in leadership, strategic thinking, inter-organsation collaboration, and stakeholder and government relations and can offer services such as market strategy, trade control advice, and stakeholder relations.
Chairman Grant Mooney said his role will enable Aurora to increase its pivot to close partnering relationships with Defence oriented clients.
Concurrent with Mr Gath’s appointment, current non-executive director Mel Ashton will step down as a director.
“On behalf of the Directors, I would like to formally welcome Andrew to the Board and thank Mel for his stewardship and guidance as a non-executive director over more than six years. Mel helped guide the company through the complexities of downsizing the operations during COVID to the recent pivot toward Defence related services.”
