Aussie-listed medtech, HeraMED (ASX:HMD) in partnership with world top-10 hospital, Sheba Medical Center, and non-for-profit organisation, Project Rozana, are expanding access to critical maternal healthcare to women in the Palestinian Authority. The innovative virtual OBYGN department of Sheba Medical Center, which is powered by HeraMED’s HeraBEAT product at its core, is training local healthcare workers who to use the device.
Ronit Zimmer, Executive Director of Project Rozana, says, “The training at Sheba will enable local healthcare workers to operate virtual clinics in remote areas, eliminating many logistical, bureaucratic, and security obstacles for rural residents seeking quality healthcare.”
Telehealth is a major development for maternal healthcare where expectant mothers are expected to require over 14 visits to the hospital during their pregnancy with visits lasting between 45-60 minutes.
HereCARE is a win for both expectant mothers and medical centres, reducing the in-person visits to only 6-8 visits and reducing visit length to around 10-15 minutes. This is due to the HeraBEAT device that allows for remote fetal heart rate monitoring — which can detect irregularities much earlier than traditional methods.
Currently the HeraCARE platform is being used at Ramsey Health Care’s Joondalup Health Campus, where they expect to enrol over 7,500 women by the end of 2024 with Head of Obstetrics, Dr Cliff Neppe, saying: “in 2022, we are looking to shake up the standard schedule of maternity care to Connected Maternity Care”.
