Beam Communications Holdings Ltd( ASX: BCC) has received its ninth and largest order for the manufacturing of the Iridium GO! on behalf of leading satellite services company Iridium Communications Inc.
Beam CEO, Michael Capocchi, said the latest order for 7,500 units of the popular portable satellite hotspot comes as Iridium expects demand for the highly reliable smartphone-to-satellite connectivity device to remain strong for years to come.
The return on investment for developing successful satellite devices is high as the longevity of the product lifecycle for such devices far exceed those of almost any other electronic product,” Mr Capocchi said.
“The troubling and growing frequency of so-called ‘one-in-100-year disasters’, such as recent weather events in Australia and the United States, also serve to illustrate why demand for our dependable and portable satellite communications equipment will remain relevant to the marketplace for a long time to come.”
The first 5,000 units of this order is scheduled to be delivered in FY22 and the remainder in Q1 FY23. At that point, Beam would have manufactured 57,500 Iridium GO! units since its launch in 2014.
