ClearVue (ASX:CPV), the company behind a technology capable of producing solar power from building windows, has revealed the innovation is sparking interest from across the construction industry, announcing a maiden MOU with sustainable housing manufacturer Mirreco.

The MOU will see Mirreco exclusively utilise ClearVue glass technology for their carbon-negative eco-homes, initially for small-scale housing units, with a prototype anticipated later this year.

Following the completion of the prototype, the companies will work together in an exclusive partnering and supply agreement, with the terms of the agreement to be finalised following the completion of a prototype.

The solar glass technology will significantly increase the environmental credentials of Mirreco’s eco-home and for ClearVue the agreement gives the company immediate leverage into the residential property construction market.

The MOU between ClearVue and Mirreco is a highly encouraging signal that there is significant and immediate interest in our technology within the building and construction industry,” ClearVue executive chairman Victor Rosenberg said.

“ClearVue has a strong market-leading position in the construction of glass that utilises otherwise wasted energy, converting it into solar electricity – all the while appearing as a transparent window.

“Following our listing on the ASX, we are dedicated to commercialising our technology and the MOU with Mirreco is an important first step in establishing a growing order-book,” he said.

Mirreco’s display unit has been developed using an innovative hemp biomass technology, which creates strong building material from eco-friendly hemp crops. Hemp has the ability to store carbon dioxide, making the eco-home a viable carbon storage solution.

The MOU follows a recent announcement that ClearVue has commenced Australian Standards certification testing for its glass, which is required before selling the technology in Australia.
