eSports leader Emerge Gaming has unveiled plans to expand its cutting-edge Arcade X technology in six additional African countries, adding over 350 million more potential subscribers from emerging African countries to significantly enhance revenue generating opportunities on the continent.
Arcade X provides casual gamers with the ability to play over 300 games on their mobile devices while being exposed to corporate advertising, which is a key revenue stream for Emerge Gaming.
The Company said it had completed its proprietary integration to begin billing customers in Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe, through major telecommunication networks, which would provide access to 29% of Africa’s total population and significantly expand the Company’s capacity to generate advertising revenue.
The expansion of Arcade X in those six additional African countries follows the recent successful soft launch of the Arcade X technology in South Africa.
Emerge Gaming said it was now in a prime position to roll out its Arcade X technology into international markets at a much faster pace and realise its broader monetisation strategy in Africa. The completion of proprietary integration has enabled Emerge to bill customers seamlessly through all major telecommunication networks.
Emerge Gaming said the expansion would provide a stronghold in Africa by being the main service provider that caters to mobile gamers and corporations, offering a platform in which gamers can play socially and competitively for prizes and advertising space for targeted audiences.
Emerge Gaming said it would take a “phased approach” in entering new African markets, with the goal of gaining significant new subscribers to Arcade X and increasing engagement times on the platform. This would be followed by monetisation using the Company’s Value-Added Service (VAS) model and advertising space for potential corporate clients, using geolocation capabilities built into the Arcade X technology.
The Company noted that smartphone penetration would grow at 50% year-on-year, which presents an opportunity to enter these African markets during their infancy phase to enhance the organic growth of its Arcade X technology on the continent where there are some 960 million mobile subscriptions, providing longevity to market the platform.
Emerge’s Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Greg Stevens, said: “Securing access to 29% of the entire continental African population for Arcade X is an enormous achievement. This is a fascinating time for Emerge with the completion of proprietary integration enabling the Company to expand into six additional emerging African countries, further enhancing our monetisation strategy to generate significant advertising revenue across the African continent. Our recent success in South Africa has provided the leverage needed to enter new emerging markets and gain significant traction, and I am pleased that Emerge is now able to effectively integrate its technology in those markets.”
