Online eSports and casual gaming competition and tournament platform technology operator Emerge Gaming Limited (ASX: EM1) has successfully demonstrated the GameCloud streaming technology over the newly launched MTN 5G network.
CEO, Gregory Stevens, said MTN is the first mobile network operator (MNO) in the southern hemisphere to demonstrate this AAA game streaming technology over 5G to a mobile device.
He said that Emerge, in partnership with MTN, has now successfully showcased the capability of the GameCloud technology to deliver AAA gaming content over 5G.
The future of gaming is the streaming of immersive and interactive high- quality 3D graphic content delivered in high definition video and with 5.1 surround sound to smartphones, tablets and smart TVs. No downloads, no hardware and no patches,” Mr Stevens said.
“This new generation technology, combined with 5G, will unlock the full capabilities of next-generation services such as virtual and augmented reality, ultra-high-definition video streaming, artificial intelligence, robotics, automated cars, and the Internet of Things (IoT).”
The showcasing of GameCloud as part of the live-streamed virtual launch event for MTN’s new 5G network in South Africa was completed at the eve of the launch of MTN Arena: the MTN branded platform based on Emerge’s mobile competition and tournament technology.
The GameCloud technology showcased by Emerge is featured in a recording of MTN’s live-streamed 5G launch and is available on the “Emerge Gaming Limited” YouTube channel as “MTN 5G Emerge”.
