Has a former Founders Institute student created the “Tinder” for golf? - TechInvest Magazine Online

Western Australian based former Founders Institute student Mike Bullen, Founder of Get in The Hole Golf, has created a unique golf app that gives social golfers the ability to connect and create great golf experiences.

“I love having a hit but I shoot a 55 off nine so when my regular golf game broke up I found it hard to meet new golfers of similar ability to play at times and courses that suited me”, said Bullen.

Thinking that he might not be alone with this problem, Mike surveyed 250 social golfers to find out what problems they were facing.

“Traditionally time and cost has always been a factor but what our survey showed us was that finding suitable playing partners was the bigger issue, and if they could find the right playing partner they would make the time to play golf,” he added.

Sometimes called the Tinder for golf, Get in the Hole Golf is a free golf app that includes 500 golf courses across Australia and Bali, with featured courses offering special deals and offers.

The only thing it leaves out is the guesswork of identifying the right playing partner.

That’s because Get in the Hole Golf partners you based on a proprietary algorithm, which evaluates average score, handicap (optional), skill, course and game type. Player profiles are then matched against players of similar ability.

Get in the Hole Golf then gives members the ability to arrange or join social games at times and courses that suit them.

“I spoke to a lot of golfers who said that if they don’t play regularly then their game drops right off which makes it harder to get back into golf”, said Bullen.

“Also not all golfers have a handicap, they just enjoy having a hit so if they could find the right playing partner, they would find the time to play golf. Nowadays people are more accustomed to the idea of a partner, think of a workout partner, running pal or biking buddy. We’ve taken this to then next level to allow games to be set up for 2 to 100 players making the app the perfect solution to manage your weekly social club, business networking event or charity golf day.”

Golfers can download the app through Apple or Android stores or directly via the website at www.getinthehole.golf.

Additionally, the app offers a premium service for $3 that gives members access to a voucher book and loyalty card saving them thousands of dollars per year.

The app provides many features all in one place, including:

  • Unique player matching algorithm creates a better golf experience
  • Play Golf Social Network
  • Create golf friends list & connect with PGA Instructors
  • Arrange games at 500+ courses across Australia and Bali (with more countries launching soon)
  • Premium Version is $3 per month gives you access to $3,000+ in golf deals
  • Free for Golf Courses to Promote 10 vouchers across 14 categories

Golf Courses and Golf Instructors will also benefit from the app. The app is free for golf courses to use to promote up to 10 vouchers across 14 categories. Golf instructors can use the free app to connect their students to games and on-course lessons.

Bullen believes this is the right time for such a forward thinking app and is looking to connect with brands and investors who love golf and also want to create great social golf experiences.

“This app allows golfers to create great golf experiences by finding similar skilled playing partners and great playing deals from the palm of your hand. It’s one-stop shopping for any player at any level, handicaps not required,” he said.
