Geohex, a uniquely Australian innovation that helps remedy ground stabilisation issues, has been recognised with a 2021 Good Design Award.
The invention is owned and manufactured by Australian business Holloway Group using a 100% recycled plastic blend. It is well-known and widely used in landscaping, mining, commercial and civil applications from hardstand to roads and stockyards.
Holloway Group Managing Director Matthew Holloway says the prestigious Good Design award is testament to the brand’s commitment to sustainability, teamwork and Australian manufacturing.
I’m incredibly proud of this product, which is not only sustainable thanks to its use of our recycled plastic blend, Reprolene, but is highly cost effective and just very cleverly designed,” Mr Holloway said.
“The unique hexagonal design of Geohex means that weight is evenly distributed across the entire surface area of the installation. Geohex is also non-reactive, non-toxic to animals, people and plants, easy to install and very cost-effective compared with alternatives like concrete.”
Geohex is manufactured by Holloway Group at its facility in Minto, NSW.
“We’re proud to have a workforce of over 70 people utilising state-of-the-art technology to produce each Geohex paver,” Mr Holloway said. “It’s a great team and I am delighted to see their work recognised with this award.”
The Australian Good Design Awards have been showcasing the best in Australian design and innovation to an international audience since 1958. Geohex took out the Product Design Hardware and Building Category.
