Australian startup Jayride has recently closed $1.5M in funding, putting total funding to date at $5M. Jayride is another success story coming out of Australia and prominent venture capitalist; Andrey Shirben, from Follow[the]Seed, believes that Jayride is the next Aussie Unicorn.

Jayride is a transportation marketplace that allows users to pre-book airport shuttles and coaches, between hotels, airports and residential addresses. It simplifies your travel journey making it a convenient way to find reliable transport at the best price.

The global transportation market is valued at $300B, and since Jayride’s inception in 2012, Founder Rod Bishop and Ross Lin have excelled expansion across the US, Australia, New Zealand, UK and Ireland, covering over 400 airports, helping tens of thousands of passengers book airport transfers.

“Over the past couple of years we have partnered up with top international travel brands like Flight Centre, Amadeus, Expedia, SkyScanner, Rome2Rio and have been providing them with out technology so they can sell ground transport around the world with a single API integration,” says Bishop.

Bishop adds, “Our plan is to completely dominate the US market in 2017, before moving further across to Europe and Asia.” The money raised will help Jayride continue its ambitious growth plans to scale with the help of Venture Capitalist Ajoy Mallik, Follow[the]Seed’s Silicon Valley founding partner and B2B expert.

Jayride is the “booking.com” for airport transfers and is disrupting global transportation. “I can certainly see a potential for the company to list on the ASX and become on of Australia’s bigger success stories,” says Jayride investor, Shirben.

Jayride’s funding to date has been over $5M; the company has issued ordinary shares without giving away any preferences, a common issue amongst startups. The company is headquartered in Sydney and has seen its most promising growing market develop in the United States.

Growth at Jayride is steady, with the company experiencing a growth of 50% in bookings made last quarter. Jayride could be the next Australian Unicorn with an eminent ASX listing around the corner.
