Subiaco-based Lateral was awarded the 2017 Most Creative Media/Entertainment Technology award at this year’s 26th Annual WA Information Technology and Telecommunications Alliance INCITE Awards gala presentation dinner for their unified social messaging platform, Thred.
Lateral was established in 1987 as a boutique custom software development company providing professional software development services and developing proprietary intellectual property in the software cloud and app space. Lateral provides world-class technology capabilities such as custom software development, app development, complex integrated solutions, modernising legacy systems, UI/UX consultancy, cloud computing solutions and mobile solutions, as well as business analysis and Project Management.
Lateral has a large team of highly qualified professionals with significant depth of experience, all based in Australia across two offices. Lateral’s clients include Wesfarmers, Samsung, Curtin University of Technology, AHG, Crown Perth, Honda Australia and CBH Group.
The WAITTA INCITE Awards are Western Australia’s leading awards program for recognising and rewarding the outstanding performance and contributions by members of the local ICT community.
This year, more than 300 entries were received from government, start-ups, corporates and students. Entrants competed in 11 award categories across Business Services, Community Services, Industry Services, Public Sector & Government as well as Student Categories.
On the award, Lateral CEO, Tommy Shin, said “I am incredibly proud that Lateral’s efforts with the development of Thred have been recognised by WAITTA. We know that Thred is a globally recognised, disruptive platform that will be a game changer to the social media and messaging sectors, and we are honoured to have won our category ‘Most Creative Media/Technology’ of the year.”
Launched in May, the Thred app uniquely delivers the ability for consumers to unite their messaging, mail, connections, SMS and more, into one simple thred. Thred aggregates incumbent social, mail, content, media and third party transactional platforms, empowering a universal, unified and simple place to connect with anyone. In addition, Thred facilitates cross platform communications with ease and puts all device and media tools in one thred.
Thred’s Executive Director and CIO, David Whitaker said: “Thred does not compete with the likes of Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, it wraps itself around all of them. The bigger the social media space gets, the bigger Thred can get. Thred is endeavouring to redefine aspects of the social space by building bridges, particularly between the large platforms in the east and the west which is really unique.”
As winners of the WAITTA INCITE Most Creative Media/Entertainment Technology Award, Lateral and Thred will later this year travel to the AIIA National iAwards, which will be held in Melbourne in August 2017.
