NASDAQ and TSX listed telco company CounterPath is making waves in the Australian market, partnering with local innovator Vonex (ASX:VN8) to launch and market communications software.
Key among CounterPath’s suite of technologies is Bria 5, which permits computers and other internet devices to connect to a VoIP phone service – removing the need for a dedicated telephone – and Stretto, the company’s platform for connecting devices using VoIP technology.
Both technologies leverage CounterPath’s over 10 years of softphone experience and millions of users, globally.
Through the partnership, the pair will work together to market Bria 5 and Stretto – as well as other technologies – to potential Australian customers, which for Vonex will significantly expand its offering to existing businesses, and channel customers.
Vonex will also white-label selected CounterPath products to sell under its own brand.
The Australian telco has announced it has made an initial order of 10,000 licenses of the CounterPath Bria softphone client suite and the CounterPath Stretto Platform, which will be sold to its existing customer base.
Commenting on the agreement, Vonex managing director Matt Fahey said: “This agreement is a significant win-win for both parties.
Vonex and CounterPath complement each other’s business in so many ways and through joint marketing to existing and targeted customers, I believe we can offer a very compelling product offering in addition to our existing product offerings.”
“Existing CounterPath customers, who currently only access software solutions, can now be offered connection to the Vonex VoIP solutions, while Vonex customers can now have access to a world class voice, video and messaging software solution.”
In addition to the joint marketing activities, the communications companies have committed to engage in a range of collaborative engineering activities.
Primarily this will focus on tailoring CounterPath products for the Australian market, but Vonex believes this will also assist in fast-tracking the development of its own product range, given the global scale and experience of the CounterPath team.
