4G Mobile MESH private networking technology developer Mobilicom Limited (ASX: MOB) has received CE certification for its SkyHopper technology, opening the door to the European marketplace.
The CE certification is a mandatory conformance marking for any product to be sold and marketed in the European Union.
Mobilicom’s CEO Oren Elkayam said CE certification will serve as a major advancement for the SkyHopper family of products, as it will enable the company to sell its solution to current customers in the EU such as Airborne Concept, who have already committed to integrating SkyHopper into their drone and/or robotics platform.
He said the certification will also further SkyHopper’s expansion across with new customers in Europe, a region extremely important to Mobilicom as it contains some of the world’s most advanced UAV developers for whom SkyHopper’s solution caters.
Europe has always been a very important market for Mobilicom and the SkyHopper entity. We have already established concrete relationships with commercial drone and robotics operators in this region who have committed to business with us,” Mr Elkayam said.
“Furthermore, we see the potential that Europe has for impacting the commercial drone industry with advanced solutions by key drone manufacturers. CE certification will enable SkyHopper to serve as a key element in the European drone ecosystem.”
In order to receive the CE certification, SkyHopper products must also comply with the Radio Equipment Directive, which applies to any communication equipment that transmits and/or receives radio waves.
CE is the third conformance certification for the SkyHopper family of products. It has already obtained FCC certification in North America and TELEC in Japan, which in turn have provided SkyHopper with a broad customer base, as it continues to build momentum in expanding its product portfolio and service offerings. Given the size of this market and the drone development activity in Europe, CE certification will enable the SkyHopper entity to drive additional revenues.
