Locally listed Mobilicom Limited (ASX:MOB) has secured the first sale of its AI-based 360° cybersecurity software for drones, robotics and autonomous platforms to the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD).
Under the $270,000 contract, Mobilicom’s Immunity Cybersecurity and Encryption (ICE) cybersecurity software will be embedded within its networking smart solutions being used in IMOD’s tactical drones and robotics platforms to provide autonomous protection against multiple cyber breaches and malicious attacks.
The add-on software module is the world’s first AI-based 360° software that can detect, prevent, and respond to multiple drone/robotics cyber-attacks in real-time without requiring intervention by an operator.
The IMOD is a global leader in the use of cybersecurity across its military and defense operations. As part of the contract, the IMOD will conduct extensive in-field implementation of Mobilicom’s cybersecurity software under a range of conditions. The in-field implementation is expected to take several months. Following successful in-field validation, all future IMOD purchases of Mobilicom’s networking and datalink smart hardware solutions will also include cybersecurity software.
Mobilicom CEO Oren Elkayam said, “Our first cybersecurity sale provides important technical and commercial validation, enabling us to validate the capability of our software with a globally respected drone and cybersecurity user. The IMOD is an early adopter of cutting-edge technologies, particularly in the field of cybersecurity. To have our cyber software implemented across its range of tactical drones and robotics platforms provides an important market validation as to the quality and innovation of our technology, and our industry leadership in this domain.
“We will initially work with the IMOD to integrate the ICE cybersecurity software into their tactical drones and robotics platforms, before carrying out extensive in-field implementation, including orchestrated malicious threats and cyber-attacks. This top-tier third-party validation is key to securing future sales from other drone and robotics manufacturers.
“Our software caters to the growing global demand for cybersecurity for drone and robotics platforms for defense applications, which are increasingly at risk from malicious threats. The ICE cybersecurity software addresses critical safety and security challenges for operators, enabling drones and robotics platforms to autonomously prevent and respond to cyber-attacks in real-time. And as an add-on software licensing module, it can be easily embedded into Mobilicom’s existing smart solutions that are already in drones and other platforms. As drone use increases, we expect demand for cybersecurity solutions will grow to include industrial and commercial applications.
“While a significant portion of the contract revenues are expected to be realised in Q4 2021.The contract with IMOD also demonstrates the success of our end-to-end strategy and upsell approach, where we have increased their revenue contribution over time by adding additional components such as cybersecurity and software to already sold networking/datalink and controller hardware.”
