Locally listed Whispir (ASX: WSP) has partnered with Mt Buller and Mt Stirling to create a smart mountain access and tracking system that streamlines guest resort access in compliance with COVID-19 health regulations and allows more efficient liaison with health authorities in the event of an outbreak.

Federal and State Government Coronavirus (COVID-19) Health regulations require everyone entering alpine resorts to provide their name and phone number when they enter, as well as when they visit a restaurant or cafe. This information can then be used by the relevant authorities to trace and respond to outbreak clusters in a coordinated way.

Mt Buller and Mt Stirling have rapidly deployed Whispir’s industry leading communications workflow platform, which automates interactions between organisations and people, in time for the 2020 ski season. The platform enables Mt Buller and Mt Stirling to effectively inform alpine resort visitors or health authorities of any potential outbreaks.

Using visitor registration data, individuals are sent a unique QR code to their mobile phone which contains all the relevant information and is scanned on entry to the resorts. Resort staff are set up with a QR code reader that scans and sends the results directly to the Whispir platform. When the visitor arrives at the resort entry, any one of their group can scan their QR code and the resort registers everyone in the group in one efficient scan.

The same QR code can then be used at food and beverage outlets. So, when a group visits a restaurant, the staff member simply scans one QR code to capture all people. All data is date and time stamped and saved on the Whispir platform.

The information collected meets all compliance and security protocols and is fully auditable. Should a spot outbreak occur in a geographic area, information can be securely provided to health authorities on who has been in the vicinity and when, as well as other personal information. This can then be efficiently cross-checked with other organisations and government departments to enable coordinated contact tracing and remedial actions to occur.

CEO of Whispir Jeromy Wells: “Our system will significantly improve the efficiency of resort entry in line with Government directives. Whispir’s platform will also enable health authorities to be informed of exactly how many people are at the resort, as well as provide a communications system for visitors to be instantly contacted if needed.”

“This type of technology allows the tourism sector to safely manage and automate new return to work processes, even for businesses with remote workforces out in the field. Our pre-defined templates are easy to create, implement and modify, enabling organisations to quickly respond to changing operating conditions without requiring IT expertise.”

“Whispir believes the same approach could be rolled out to hotels, cafes, retail stores, stadiums and other event-based organisations as the number of spectators attending sports games increases.”

CEO of Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management Board Mark Bennetts: “We are using Whispir to create a digital visitor record and eliminate the need for visitors to manually record all their details at the resort entrance gate and at food and beverage venues within the resorts. It means people won’t be asked to handle pens or clip boards that have been used by multiple people, which is a potential health risk.”
