Nanollose Limited (ASX:NC6) has filed its first International Patent Application relating to a method of processing microbial cellulose.
Nanollose’s MC Pulp provides a gateway to additional cellulose applications.
The international application relates to methods for processing microbial cellulose (MC) to produce microbial cellulose pulp, a material suitable for a broad range of commercial applications like medical scaffolding, non-woven fabrics and absorbent feminine hygiene products.
Nanollose Managing Director, Alfie Germano , said that the Nanollose process transforms microbial cellulose into a workable and transferable pulp, unlocking additional applications.
In particular, the company believes its pulp will produce material with superior paper and fabric-like properties.
Most industries today are actively seeking environmental and sustainable solutions.
Having the ability to unlock additional value from microbial cellulose allows Nanollose to potentially offer an environmentally sustainable cellulose alternative to the FMCG, Medical and Hygiene sectors,” Mr Germano said.
He said that though the process of filing, examining, granting and defending patents can be protracted with no guarantees of success, the company intends to actively seek industrial partners to collaborate with and apply this processing method to current commercial applications.
Nanollose has also announed it has been granted its Australian Trade Mark for the word Nanollose, and intends to seek protection in other key jurisdictions.
