Nanoveu Limited (ASX: NVU) has had an important breakthrough in its expansion into the anti-reflective screen market with the signing of an agreement with a world leader in the field.
Nanoveu Executive Chairman and CEO Alfred Chong said the five-year licencing agreement with the Government of Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) will give the company access to world- leading anti-reflective technology.
Under the five-year licencing agreement, Nanoveu will receive non-exclusive access to A*STAR’s patent protected anti-reflective coating technology and hard anti-reflection glass to develop commercial products for the global mobile phones, tablets, automotive displays and other digital displays.
Mr Chong said Nanoveu intends to use this technology to develop thin film, anti-reflective products which adhere to a digital screen/display utilising Nanoveu’s know-how, established supply chain and distribution channels to rapidly bring anti reflective screen products to market.
He said these products will address the issue of reflection and sunlight impairing images from a digital display improving the viewing experience for a user.
“I am extremely pleased to confirm this agreement between Nanoveu and such a prestigious partner in A*STAR,” Mr Chong said.
“This partnership will enable Nanoveu to leverage almost two decades of research and development and millions of dollars already invested in this technology. We know how to make these products cost effectively.”
“Anti-reflective coating is a premium product in the screen protector market which command higher sales premiums. It is far superior to common anti-glare coatings, which reflect more visible light and reduce the clarity of the screen.”
“A*STAR have developed very impressive anti-reflective technology and Nanoveu is now in the box-seat to reduce manufacturing costs and take this technology to the global screen marketplace.”
Nanoveu has a strong track record of delivering protective screens which incorporate nanotechnology at a cost competitive price. This track record is one of the primary reasons why we are the right company to be given the opportunity to launch this form of product into a market that is looking for such a solution.”
The combination of Nanoveu’s unique formulation of materials created in the development of Nanoveu’s EyeFly3D product line and A*STAR’s patent protected anti-reflective coating technology and hard anti-reflection glass, Nanoveu is confident of developing anti-reflective products that are exceptionally difficult to replicate.
The new products are expected to be available later this year and will be distributed through Nanoveu’s existing channels, including laminating vending machines which are currently being trialled for commercial deployment, complementing and extending Nanoveu’s product range.
