Co-founder and founding CEO of the company that has revolutionised television, Netflix, is visiting our shores in September to tell the incredible story behind the hugely popular streaming service.

Netflix co-founder coming Down Under

Marc Randolph

In his first ever public speaking event in Australia, Marc Randolph will be in Sydney and Melbourne in September respectively to provide the audience with the streaming service’s early years, the failed $50 million offer for acquisition to Blockbuster in 2000 and other topics.

In 1997, Marc founded the company with Reed Hastings and served as CEO for 7 years. It’s an unlikely story of how a handful of dreamers with no money and a bad idea, created the company that eventually brought down Blockbuster.

Although there will not be any full-length video of Marc speaking online – he doesn’t allow filming, insiders say it’s packed with dozens of stories that trace the dramatic ups and downs of those first exciting years, and he weaves an inspiring story that shows the value of innovation, persistence and optimism.

Since leaving Netflix in 2002, Marc has kept a relatively low profile, but he has founded many successful start-ups across his 40-year entrepreneurial career. He now mentors hundreds of new entrepreneurs and invests in many new ventures. Although, in a unique approach, he makes them choose one or the other, money or his time but not both.

He will be speaking at State Theatre Sydney on 20th September and Melbourne Town Hall on 24th September. There will also be an audience Q&A.

Tickets range from $99 to $350. VIP meet & greet is also an option for those want to get in on the backstage action after the show.
