Norwood Systems Ltd (ASX: NOR) has released its virtual mobile telephony App, World Phone Version 3.0, on the Apple iOS App Store.

Norwood’s Managing Director, CEO and Founder, Paul Ostergaard, said World Phone Version 3.0 represents a major advance for the highly-acclaimed and award-winning World Phone platform, addressing key enterprise requirements and adding important network resiliency capabilities, including features such as enterprise-grade encryption and state-of-the-art voice compression and decompression (codec) software that together can deliver near-bullet-proof, high-quality and secure voice calling – even on insecure or poor-quality data networks.

He said Norwood has also significantly optimised and polished World Phone’s existing award-winning and top-rated User Interface and User Experience.

The App now operates at high-performance on iOS 11 and iOS 10 on all recent iPhone hardware platforms from the iPhone 5s to the recently launched iPhone X smartphones, thereby maximising the potential installed base of addressable iPhone users who can use World Phone.

“This is a huge release for our flagship World Phone App. We have been working on this new version of World Phone for quite some time and are excited to see it finally released on the App Store this morning,” Mr Ostergaard said.

“Whilst the existing World Phone App set a high bar, having won a number of key awards whilst securing very high ratings on the App Store, this new World Phone Version 3.0 is, very simply, the finest and most complex piece of software that Norwood has ever released. I am very proud of the company’s collective efforts to deliver this incredibly advanced and truly world-class new version of World Phone.

“There are very few companies around the world that have the capabilities to deliver this calibre of Over the Top Voice communications software. This is without question a world-class voice platform that, with its associated Corona CRM and Corona Compliance capabilities, is one step ahead of the competition.”

Machine learning

Mr Ostergaard said Norwood is planning on adding machine learning-based intelligence capabilities it has been working on.

“More than any previous version, World Phone Version 3.0 targets the Enterprise Mobility quadruple play of security, reliability, manageability and useability. We have made really significant improvements in each of these areas for this new World Phone release, improvements that we strongly feel will be highly desirable features for many of our prospective enterprise clients.

This version of World Phone has been designed to deliver a winning enterprise-centric virtual mobile service experience, one that ticks many, many key enterprise requirements for a modern mobile voice solution.

“Whilst we have added numerous powerful new capabilities to World Phone in this release, we have also been hard at work on improving the user experience, relentlessly polishing and simplifying key aspects of the user interface. The net result of these optimisations is an App that runs cleanly on a broad range of device resolutions and hardware vintages, running beautifully on iPhone hardware released as long as four years ago.

“This means World Phone 3.0 will deliver a great user experience on more than 90% of all current iPhones used in the market, namely on a four-year-old iPhone 5s smartphone and onwards.

“We have a number of significant prospective enterprise clients in our pipeline, some of whom have enjoyed direct input into Norwood’s development process for certain World Phone features, as potential direct users of World Phone and Corona.

“These clients have specifically been asking us for enterprise-grade features such as security and resilience, which we are very happy now to tick off as standard enterprise features in this new version of World Phone. We are really looking forward to how these prospective enterprise clients respond to our updated, beautiful and functional virtual mobile client.
