Pentanet Limited (ASX:5GG) has announced the practical completion milestone has been reached in the rollout of the GeForce NOW cloud gaming infrastructure in Australia.

The initial GeForce NOW RTX servers are now fully installed in Perth and Sydney, with the first Internal Beta cloud gaming sessions for GeForce NOW in Australia successfully taking place from the Perth infrastructure.

The Internal Beta program will see Pentanet perform initial platform tests and begin measuring the performance of local infrastructure.

The Beta Play stage (an external public beta) remains on track to commence in September, with a national commercial launch on track for October 2021.

Pricing for GeForce NOW in Australia will be announced in the coming weeks. The Beta Play stage will test the platform to gather data on performance, system requirements, queue times, and confirm which Australian internet infrastructure and providers will be recommended for GeForce NOW.

Users will be recommended to connect locally via hardwired Ethernet connection or 5GHz wireless router. Demand leading into the Beta Play stage remains strong, with over 27,000 unique active users completing over 160,000 Cloud.GG Quests as at September 3, in an effort to secure a seat in Beta Play.

Pentanet Managing Director, Stephen Cornish, said the Quests are gamified activities designed to provide Pentanet with further insight into usage patterns and infrastructure demand to manage and optimise the hardware and infrastructure rollout.

“Our internal team, most of whom are gamers themselves, trialled a variety of games across many devices over the weekend. From Cyberpunk on a 2014 MacBook to Destiny 2 on a five-year-old Samsung Galaxy, we continue to be impressed by the performance of GeForce NOW,” Mr Cornish said.

“We are excited to get the service into the hands of the public and demonstrate the power of this technology.”
