The Ecology Center, a non-profit organisation empowering communities to adopt a holistic view of the environment, discovered that many costume jewellery accessories contain high-levels of unsafe chemicals that include lead and chromium.
Lead and chromium have been found to irritate people with sensitive skin, sometimes producing allergic reactions. Lead-based jewellery can leave skin red with rashes.
That’s why; consumers with sensitive skin that purchase jewellery are in constant fear of an allergic reaction when they buy jewellery accessories.
Pzella Accessories sells lead-free jewellery that’s completely natural and was founded by Australian entrepreneur Michelle Lia, with a mission to bring ecofriendly and affordable jewellery accessories to consumers that have sensitive skin.
Founder of Pzella Accessories, Michelle Lia, discovered that many of her friends had horrible skin reactions with nickel and lead-based products and created Pzella Accessories to solve this problem.
“Having sensitive skin myself I’ve always had to be careful of using certain cosmetics and costume jewellery. After doing a little bit of research I was shocked at some of the materials that are used in jewellery – nickel, lead and cadmium in particular,” says Lia.
Due to growth, Pzella Accessories is planning to further extend its product range by adding on additional products, targeting the costume jewelry market that has been forecasted to exceed US$4.17 billion by 2022.
