Education technology company Schrole (ASX:SCL) and its partner Edith Cowan University (ECU) have received an Innovation Connection Grant from the Australian government to the tune of $50,000 to further research their revolutionary recruitment algorithms.
The grant is a part of the federal government’s Entrepreneurs‘ Programme which is aimed at fostering development of new ideas with commercial potential.
Schrole will use the grant to boost its research program with ECU to develop the Schrole Connect recruitment technology, which matches teachers with desired schools and schools with the best teaching candidate.
In partnership with ECU, Schrole is developing complex algorithms which seek to manage a variety of competing factors, including teacher attributes, school contexts and environmental factors, to identify ideal schools and teachers.
The Schrole Connect system is believed to be the first in the market to utilise this type of algorithm for the hiring of international school teachers.
Finding the right teacher is essential to a school in terms of teaching success, building strong relationships with students and parents and creating a positive working environment,” Schrole managing director Rob Graham.
“On the flipside, finding the right teaching environment is essential to an educator’s success.
“The algorithm that we will develop with ECU will join the dots by matching teachers to schools that they would prefer to work at as well as match schools to teachers based on specific attributes,” he said.
The algorithm will be incorporated into the Schrole Connect recruitment system, which is already accessible to teachers and schools via website or mobile app.
Schrole believes that the Connect technology is particularly well suited to the international schools market, where recruitment can be a significant challenge.
Additionally, the international school recruitment market is estimated to be worth US$2 billion, offering significant potential upside for the company.
Shares in Schrole last traded on the ASX at 1.8 cents per share.
