Lakeba’s A.I. computer vision retail software platform, SHELFIE, has appointed Myron K. Burke to serve as its global CEO, leading its expansion into Europe and the US. This appointment was made by Lakeba, the group that conceived, created and commercialised SHELFIE.
After supporting SHELFIE as Vice President for North America for the past year, Burke will now lead the organization through this critical transition and growth stage. With over 25 years of in-depth retail and innovation experience, including previous roles with Walmart and Sam’s Club, Burke will be a tremendous asset to SHELFIE’s growth.
Giuseppe Porcelli, CEO of Lakeba, says: “The world’s biggest retailers have piloted our technology and demand is growing from all sectors. Our biggest and boldest opportunities are in the US and Europe, so we need to be in the thick of it. I’m delighted that Myron’s stepping into this vital leadership role as we relocate SHELFIE’s epicentre from Australia, where it all started.”
SHELFIE provides retailers with a lightweight and easy to deploy real-time retail shelf diagnostics and analytics platform. The world’s leading retail chains achieve improved customer experience while improving revenues, by optimising on-shelf product availability and placement with SHELFIE’s patented deep learning technology.
Burke says: “Retailers know, now more than ever that they are in the service businesses. Their ability to be attentive to the personal wants and needs of millions of consumers every day is essential. The challenge to be able to meet increasingly diverse customer expectations while managing costs across a growing omni-channel enterprise is a challenge that all retailers are facing and that’s where SHELFIE can really make a difference.
“My first task is to refine SHELFIE’s expansion to ensure that SHELFIE remains available to the best and brightest retailers through our global channel and partner program. Retailers are in great need of fast, simple, and easy to integrate value generating solutions, so we need to expand our fulfilment capacity and service capabilities with the right partners.”
SHELFIE’s deep learning technology audits retail shelves, using multiple image capturing devices. It reports on shelf stock levels and store environment parameters in real time, empowering retailers to optimise in-store operations and their supporting supply chain. Analysis is provided at both individual store level and centrally, across global or regional operations.
