Singular Health Group Ltd (ASX: SHG) has announced the release of the premium tiers of the 3Dicom Viewer software, 3Dicom Pro and 3Dicom Surgical.
Managing Director, Thomas Hanly, said Digital Imaging and COmmunication in Medicine (DICOM) file format is a worldwide standard for storing radiological images such as CT, MRI & PET scans, 3Dicom Viewer leverages the Volumetric Rendering Platform to convert DICOM files to patient specific 3D models.
Developed as a pure Software-as-a-Service software solution, 3Dicom Viewer is one of the only fully-featured DICOM viewers available on both Windows and Mac operating systems and can be marketed globally with a direct-to-practitioner approach and enterprise sales. Future releases will include Android and iOS versions of the software.
The free tier of 3Dicom has been available at 3dicomviewer.com as a beta-release and has been downloaded more than 6000 times with a user survey revealing 40% of the downloads are medical practitioners which demonstrates the ability to market direct-to-practitioners in a scalable, affordable manner.
Aimed at a global audience, 3Dicom Pro & Surgical has multi-lingual capabilities and has already been translated into Spanish, Bengali, Hindi and Mandarin with additional languages being added in the coming weeks.
Due to a large number of the beta downloads being international, the premium model has adopted the US dollar as the default currency and 3Dicom Pro is priced at USD$3.95/month and 3Dicom Surgical at USD$24.95/ month, in line with a number of competing DICOM viewers with fewer features.
Following the inclusion of all Pro & Surgical features by July 2021, the company intends to seek FDA 510(k) and TGA Class II approvals as a Diagnostic software which will accelerate enterprise sales to healthcare providers, radiological clinics and hospitals. It is anticipated that the FDA 510(k) approval shall also be sought for the company’s spinal segmentation module for its inclusion in 3Dicom and MedVR.
Further to the development of 3Dicom, Singular Health, over the past quarter has created an integrated licensing and distribution system for the deployment and update of Singular Health products including Virtual Anatomy, MedVR, 3Dicom and GeoVR (upon release).
Putting the 3Dicom software into context, there are more than six million CT & MRI scans prescribed every year in Australia and over four million scans prescribed every day in China,” Mr Hanly said.
“We’ve identified an opportunity for 3Dicom to form an integral part of the growing patient- centric healthcare work-flow, with a software that enables medical practitioners to easily edit, label and share patient-specific scans with other practitioners and with the patient themselves.
“Whilst there are existing DICOM viewers in the market, 3Dicom Pro and Surgical provide advanced 2D and 3D visualisation by default with additional features that enable better patient to practitioner collaboration at a very competitive price point. It must be noted that we are targeting a market where there are over 500,000 google searches per month for terms directly related to DICOM Viewer.
“The direct-to-practitioner and direct-to-patient digital marketing approach trialled to date has yielded great results with a very low cost per download and we’re excited to have launched this highly-scalable software offering.
“We have also engaged new staff to drive enterprise level sales through the creation of Continuous Professional Development programs around 3Dicom Viewer to normalise the use of radiological files as an everyday patient education tool especially as we progress toward FDA 510(k) approval as diagnostically-approved Software-as-a-Medical Device.”
