Technological breakthrough sees blue sky potential for ClearVue - TechInvest Magazine Online

Solar PV glass technology company ClearVue (ASX:CPV) continues to shatter technological boundaries, announcing its solar power producing glass is now capable of generating energy without the requirement of the company’s specially-designed frame.

The breakthrough dramatically increases the commercial applications of its technology, which can now be installed with any conventional window frame.

The glass technology has the capability of turning any building or home into a power-generating site by capturing solar energy which is otherwise wasted.

The technology had previously used nano-particles ingrained into window glass to redirect UV and infra-red rays to solar frames equipped to the outside of the glass. The updated design is now capable of converting solar energy through the same process – but all completed within the glass module itself – eliminating the dependency on specialised frames.

The move away from dependency upon any specific frame design to an industry standard IGU [Insulated Glass Unit] that can be supplied to innumerate framing companies and window fabricators will significantly increase ClearVue’s potential to reach a global market faster,” ClearVue Chairman Victor Rosenberg said.

“This simple step has widened our scope for even greater licensing opportunities,” he added.

The Company has already placed an order for 100 of the IGU units to be placed into early trial sites.

ClearVue also reports that Australian Standards testing on its window and glass curtain wall solution continues to progress and is expected to be completed on schedule.

The AS testing is an important milestone, as it is a requirement before the glass can be sold commercially within the country.
