IDEAS ranging from a mobile device enabled foot size measuring system, glasses free 3D and holographic display technology and support for the elderly were featured when eight leading University Accelerator programmes from across Australia came together.
The eight graduate teams recently presented their business cases at a Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia (KCA) University Demo Day hosted by Google Australia.
The University Accelerator programmes provide structured mentoring, access to co-working space, and seed funding that ranges from $5,000 to $50,000 per team, while also providing participating teams with access to University resources.
Other advantages include access to the significant networks of the University through staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders.
KCA is the representative body of University technology transfer arms and provides training, advocacy and events to promote translation of research outcomes into new products and services and entrepreneurship on University campuses. In this instance, KCA acts as an aggregator of opportunities to build audience and profile.
