The exclusive five-year agreement focuses on Osteopore's 3D-printed bioresorbable implants, specifically targeting treatments for bone loss in the upper and lower extremities—a key growth area amid rising demand for alternatives to traditional implants.
The move is timely, as Osteopore recently gained regulatory approvals in Singapore (as of March 2024), setting the stage for a swift market entry. By partnering with DKSH, a Swiss giant listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and known for its extensive presence across Asia, Osteopore gains access to DKSH's robust network and healthcare expertise in Singapore. The Product: High Tibial Osteotomy (HTO) Implants
The flagship of this partnership is Osteopore’s High Tibial Osteotomy (HTO) implant, aimed at knee preservation surgeries, which are growing in popularity for addressing knee osteoarthritis (KO) among Singapore’s ageing population. With over 10% of adults in Singapore suffering from KO, particularly those between 40 and 60 years old, demand is rising for less invasive, bone-preserving procedures. Singapore General Hospital reports that HTO surgeries have doubled from 50 in 2020 to nearly 100 by 2021, a trend that Osteopore aims to capitalise on with DKSH’s support.
HTO implants, unlike traditional bone fillers, are bioresorbable, gradually dissolving to be replaced by the patient’s natural bone tissue. Osteopore’s clinical data reportedly demonstrates faster bone healing compared to conventional allogeneic fillers, giving these implants a clear edge in terms of both recovery times and patient outcomes.
